Megan Morris Chosen to Lead Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce

Megan Morris, a native Beaufortonian, has been chosen to lead the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce.  The announcement was made by 2024 Chair Nick Mesenburg, Site Manager for MCAS Beaufort.  The Board of Directors voted unanimously to approve her appointment as president earlier this week.  She has been serving as interim president since November 2023.

“The Board believes Megan has the ambition and energy to move the chamber to the next level of service for our members,” according to Mesenburg.  “She is committed to building a team of professionals, internally and externally, to leading and to strengthening the partnerships between local, state, and national government officials.  There are many opportunities ahead for Beaufort, and the Chamber will be at the leadership table to be a part of the solutions.”

Morris has developed many ties to the region over the past several years.  She has been a member of the Chamber’s team of professionals since August of 2021.  She was initially brought on as Director of Member Services and then promoted to Vice President.

During her career, Morris has also held positions with Wexford Plantation HOA, Santa Elena Foundation and History Center, Beaufort County School District, Beaufort Memorial Hospital Foundation, and CIMTechniques, Inc.

“I decided several years ago that working to improve the community where I grew up was going to be a career goal for me,” Morris says.  “I believe the skill sets I bring to the Chamber will be beneficial as we move forward on the advocacy front at the local, regional, state, and national levels.  Beaufort is where I want to leave a positive legacy during my tenure as president.”

As a graduate of the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, Morris earned a degree in marketing with a minor in public relations.  She currently serves as a member of the Carolina Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.

The president serves as the chief executive and is responsible for all aspects of operations for the Chamber. Morris will report directly to the Board of Directors through an annually elected Chair. The chamber professional provides vision, strategic direction, and management for the programs and personnel of the organization.

The Chamber initiated an extensive executive search process earlier this year following the resignation of Ian Scott.  He relocated to take a role as Vice President of Advocacy at the Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber.
