2026 Public Policy Agenda

2026 PUBLIC POLICY AGENDA - COVER PAGE

February 10, 2026

The Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the release of our 2026 Public Policy Agenda, carefully compiled by our Public Policy Committee and approved by our Board of Directors.

Our Top Priorities

At the local level, we're focused on simplifying regulatory processes and keeping business and workforce needs at the center of policy decisions, along with advancing infrastructure projects like critical roadways and the repair of Beaufort's Waterfront Park.

At the state level, our priority is ensuring SC—and Beaufort—remains a top destination for recruiting and retaining employers and employees. Key initiatives include strengthening infrastructure for our electric grid and water/sewer capacity, increasing Low Income Housing Tax Credits, expanding childcare accessibility, and lowering individual income tax rates.

At the federal level, we're advocating for enhanced investments on military bases—particularly mission expansion and healthcare facilities for our three installations—along with pro-growth tax policies and workforce housing solutions.

Joining the National Call for Permitting Reform

The Beaufort Chamber recently joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's call for Permitting Reform. Modernizing the federal permitting process is essential to reducing delays and costs for critical infrastructure projects—from roads and energy systems to stormwater infrastructure and military base enhancements. We'd like to see the same for our state and local municipalities.

The Chamber will continue to report on outcomes aligned with this agenda. Thank you for your continued partnership in advancing our shared economic interests.
