Advocacy

Advocacy means...

* The Chamber works to improve economic conditions to help your business thrive -- from streamlining the permitting process at the local level to promoting a more equitable distribution of education funding to protecting our military installations in Washington.
* Chamber leaders connect through close and concentrated relationships with local, state and federal legislators, and those who can help influence decisions.

The Beaufort Regional Chamber is committed to developing a high-quality, business-friendly environment where our existing and new businesses want to invest.  Strengthening our business climate requires advocacy at the local, state and federal levels.

The Beaufort Regional Chamber uses four guiding principles in considering positions on issues.
•Maintain and grow opportunities for Beaufort County businesses
•Reduce the cost of doing business
•Manage growth and support infrastructure improvements so that the marketability of the area is not threatened
•Increase the qualified workforce

Advocacy
Advocacy activities include grassroots activities, monitoring local government meetings, the annual legislative reception, and visits to Columbia.  In addition, the Chamber works closely with our U.S. delegation with a focus on protecting and growing our military installations.

Candidate Support and Education
The Beaufort Regional Chamber understands that having qualified leaders running for office and an informed and educated public are critical to the success of democracy.  For that reason, the Chamber holds candidates forums during elections so that the public can learn about them.
