WHAT IS YOUTH APPRENTICESHIP?
Youth Apprenticeship is a proven workforce development model active in other parts of South Carolina, across the US, and around the globe. It is a structured program that combines high school curriculum, career and technology training, and paid on-the-job experience to help high school juniors and seniors gain employable skills.
For employers, a Youth Apprenticeship can build a pipeline and identify future full-time talent. You may also be eligible for tax credits.
WHAT IS THE BEAUFORT APPRENTICESHIP CHALLENGE?
The Beaufort Apprenticeship Challenge will accelerate this successful workforce development model in Beaufort County. The program will pay a $500 cash incentive to 10 local employers to register youth apprenticeships and to 10 local high school students to sign up for an apprenticeship beginning in the 2022 school year.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Step 1: By Nov. 30, register online for an informational webinar hosed by the Beaufort Regional Chamber.
Step 2: Attend the webinar on Dec. 1 where we’ll answer questions about liability, transportation and all the other possible roadblocks to establish a youth apprenticeship
Step 3: Schedule a one-on-one call with Apprenticeship Carolina by Dec. 15 to choose program
Step 4: Submit registration of your Youth Apprenticeship program by Feb. 15, 2021.
Any employers in Beaufort County that complete all steps by Feb. 15 will be entered into a drawing for a $500 cash incentive courtesy of the Beaufort Regional Chamber and the Beaufort County Economic Development Corporation. Up to 10 cash incentive recipients will be announced by the end of February. We are seeking an array of apprenticeship programs in culinary/hospitality, building technology/trades, information technology, and office administration.
