Regularly named to magazines’ “Best Small Cities” lists, Beaufort is building on 300 years of chartered history to create an exciting and prosperous fourth century.

In October 2011, Beaufort County was named by America's Promise Alliance as one of the Top 100 Best Communities for Young People.

Located on the Atlantic Coast midway between Savannah, GA and Charleston SC, Beaufort is the county seat of Beaufort County and features two of South Carolina’s National Historic Landmark Districts – Beaufort’s own historic district of antebellum mansions and nearby Penn Center, home to the South’s first school for freed slaves.

The mild climate features snowfall about once every 20 years … and beach weather nine months out of the year. Moss-draped live oaks and jewel-green marsh grass accent the ribbons of rivers, creeks and waterways that wind through the coast to the sea. Year-round fishing is some of the best in the country, and children enjoy catching blue crabs from docks and river edges. Offshore and Gulf Stream fishing bring new challenges with sailfish, mahi-mahi, wahoo and grouper.

Sound appealing? The Beaufort area is the perfect place to raise a family, to start or grow a business, or to relocate your business for a better quality of life and a better quality of business. The Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce is here to help!
